To win, 3 numbers had to be provided for the following Twitter contest challenges:

#1: Total Grand National Champions from Indiana
#2: Total Grand National Championships from Indiana
#3: Total ISSMA State Titles among these groups

The correct answer was: 5, 8, 20.

#1: Chesterton, Center Grove, Lawrence Central, Carmel, Avon = 5 Total
#2: Chesterton 1, Center Grove 1, Lawrence Central 2, Carmel 1, Avon 3 = 8 Total
#3: Chesterton 1, Center Grove 3, Lawrence Central 4, Carmel 3, Avon 9 = 20 Total

The third answer was a bit trickier than the others, as you had to specifically choose ISSMA State Championships only, not ISMA, NISBOVA, or State Fair. Paying attention to the exact question was very important in this contest!

Knox lost one of their drum majors, Drew Shearin, in a single person car crash. Drew was well-loved among his peers, and a from all accounts, an individual that left a mark of kindness and friendship with everyone he came into contact with.

He had been twice honored for his musical compositions in the IMEA (Indiana Music Educators Association’s) Young Composers competition.

Last March, his 2010 composition, “Uncertainty,” won the Concert Band Class and was performed by the Lafayette Jefferson High School Wind Ensemble at the IMEA state convention. In 2011, he has received the first place award in the IMEA Choral/Vocals Class for his composition, “The Sweetest Air is the Most Often the Thickest.”

Additionally, The Goshen band arrived home last Saturday night from their competition at Ben Davis to find out that the 58-year old James Miller, the father of two students in the band, was murdered in his own home during a home invasion/robbery late Saturday night. The incident also left the mother in serious condition at the hospital.

James was a well-known professor in the Goshen community, and our thoughts and prayers are with the friends, families, and students affected by this terrible and senseless tragedy. The Goshen band will be wearing memorial ribbons during the final three weeks of their season to honor James and his family.
